Why settle for boring and
uninspiring gray concrete or incur
the high cost of natural stone? CCC
can help you turn ordinary concrete
into so much more. With a wide range
of texturing tools and CCC’s high
quality materials, a new concrete
surface can be turned into a
beautiful colored hardscape
resembling any number of natural
stone, brick and handset tile
patterns, at a fraction of the cost
of natural materials. Or for a
beautifully colored and finely
trowelled concrete surface, CCC
offers integral color in any of its
40 standard colors in addition to
custom colors specially designed to
meet unique customer needs.
Starting with freshly poured and
finely trowelled concrete, CCC’s
PaveCrete 200 Color Hardener is
applied by the dry shake method
evenly over the concrete surface. In
order to prevent the imprinting mats
from adhering to the fresh concrete,
one of CCC’s release agents must
also be applied to the concrete
surface. For an antiquing effect and
more natural look, CCC recommends
applying PaveCrete 300 Antique
Release Agent in a contrasting color
to that used in the color hardener.
The surface is then imprinted with
any of the high quality texturing
mats and allowed to cure before
washing the excess powders to reveal
a surface with the beauty and appeal
of natural stone and the durability
and strength of concrete. For long
term protection and additional
beauty, CCC highly recommends
immediately sealing the finished
surface with A-Z Super Sealer or A-Z
Mega Sealer.
THE CONCEPT:
An alternative pavement to natural
stone, slate, brick, and other
expensive material.
THE PROCEDURE:
By treating the surface of freshly
poured concrete – on job site – with
factory prepared ready to use
powders, and stamping it with rubber
mats.
PAVEMENT CONSIDERATIONS / VALUE
ENGINEERING
LOOK, DURABILITY, COST
LOOK,
With unlimited choice of colors, and
over 150 design selections used in
combinations, the landscaping
engineer has the tools to use
his/her imagination and creativity
to make the pavement finish enhance
the landscaping that blends
perfectly with the surroundings.
DURABILITY,
Concrete is a very durable material.
Further, the quality of the concrete
is improved with the chemicals
incorporated in the dry-shake Color
Hardener, upgrading the strength.
COSTS,
A fraction of that of natural stone,
the cost is competitive even with
the least expensive paving materials
such as, cement tiles, interlock
pavers, and exposed aggregate tiles.
A good design, meant to take a
considerable moving load and will
not deteriorate after use, calls for
10 to 15 cm. thick reinforced
concrete slab plus 5 to 10 cm. sand
backfill plus 3 cm. screed plus the
tiles. In the case of stamped
concrete, it is only the reinforced
concrete slab, which will be treated
with the dry-shake and stamped,
while the concrete is still fresh.
USES:
In any place that requires durable
paving. Like driveways, walkways,
swimming pool decks, streets,
building entrances, yards, and most
graciously in recreation parks and
gardens.
OTHER ADVANTAGES:
Besides what has been previously
mentioned, stamped concrete has
further advantages over other types
of pavement:
•
Stamped concrete can be given a
new-face or look at any time. By
giving it a new coat of clear or
colored sealer, chemical staining,
grouting the deep like-joints, or
stenciling art.
•
It can take the load and movement of
the vehicles in the same manner as
concrete roads or car parks. Not
like tiles, which get loose due to
vibration and lateral forces.
•
No cutting or poor finishing around
exposed objects in the concrete slab
such as a pole or tree, the stamps
will cover the concrete surface for
any marginal area.
•
No concern to slab dimension or
surface configuration in stamped
concrete since the stamps will cover
any surface area.
•
The surface of stamped concrete is
impermeable since it has no joints
between tiles like other paving
materials, and the surface pores are
further blocked with the sealer.
•
The outstanding nice look of the
system is achieved with a
combination of colors and designs in
the same area; such flexibility is
very limited with other pavements.
•
No extra work or care is needed in
trowelling and floating the concrete
surface.
•
No cracks or imperfections in the
grout of joints like other paving
materials.
•
The surface of stamped concrete will
stay flat and rigid, no partial
settlement or loose tiling can take
place.
•
The required texture for a rough
surface, or smooth one, can be
achieved by the selection of stamps.
•
No need for curb stone on free edges
of the stamped concrete slab,
contrary to other kinds of pavement
where a curb stone is needed to hold
the pavement.
•
Grass and weed has no chance to grow
in the joints like other pavers.
•
No structural movement of the slab
under traffic, other pavers move and
are not stable as they are setting
on sand. Each tile moves separately
under load and in the direction of
moving load.
•
The surface of stamped concrete is
non-porous and will be impervious to
oil and staining.
•
The color is homogenous and the
surface will not fade or discolor by
exposure to adverse weather
conditions.
•
Antique and rustic impressions are
created and controlled with depth
and color in stamped colored
concrete.
